    The museum and collectionThe Louvre Abu Dhabi museum was designed by JeanNouvel, combining modern design techniques andinspiration drawn from the region’s traditional architecture.The museum is one component of the Cultural Districtplanned for Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi.

    The assignment

    Atelier Jean Nouvel partnered with us for the productionand installation of custom display cases and podiums forthe permanent exhibition galleries of the museum. Themuseum contains 8.600m2 of exhibition spaces including6.400m2 in the permanent galleries. We provided morethan 100 bespoke display cases and over 100 podiumswhich play a key role in the museography concept of thegalleries, presenting more than 600 artworks.

    The project: challenges & result

    M+Y maintained a professional standard of servicessince their involvement in the project in December 2014 upto the completion of their services in November 2017. TheMeyvaert team communicated and collaborate seamlesslywith the Design and Construction teams and reactedwell to the high-pressure working environment with anexceptional project and time management approach. Theirsupport in the design phases, including their availability forconsultations, providing samples and prototyping, has ledto a finished product that contains the material, technicaland aesthetical quality expected for the Louvre Abu Dhabi.Museum Meyvaert co-operated well with other teammembers, which was imperative for all parties on theproject.       The museum and collectionThe House of European History aims to inform its visitorsabout the history of Europe, whilst also stimulating dialogueabout Europe and the European unification process. Themuseum is housed in the Eastman-Kodak building thatwas built as a clinic after WWII. The exhibition space wasextended with a glass cube on top of the renovated building.

      The assignment

      Our scope of work included not only the development,production and installation of display cases but alsoof museum furniture, plinths and mounting supports,mechanical interactives, movies and graphics.Furthermore, we were also in charge of selecting andinstalling gallery lighting and AV hardware, editinghistorical footage and music compilations, producingmultimedia content, implementing and integrating iBeaconlocalization technology for tablets and designing a ContentManagement System for museum staff.Beyond these core duties, Meyvaert was also responsiblefor the design, development and installation of a 25m tallsculpture, which can truly be regarded as the central eyecatcherin the atrium of the new Eastman-Kodak building.

      The project: challenges & result

      This has been our biggest fitout project until today, in termsof scale, budget and timing. Project management & timelydelivery were key. Over a period of 29 months, we workedwith over 10 suppliers & subcontractors in order to deliveroptimal visitors’ experience, taking them on an interactivejourney through the history of Europe. In 2018 we were alsoawarded the 5-year maintenance contract.

      Museum of Asia Minor Culture in Prokopi, Evia 

       

      PROJECT REVIEW

      The work of the Museum of Asia Minor Culture in Prokopi, Evia, was completed and delivered, which  M + Y Glass Solutions subsidiary of the Yalodomi Group, has successfully accomplished within a timetable and technical specifications.

      The new Museum is located in the Holy Pilgrimage of St. John of Russia and is housed in a temple building, which for many years was used as a guesthouse of the pilgrims and was funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

      On September 10th, 2018, the inauguration was completed by  Archbishop of Athens Jerome, with the Metropolitan Chalcidos Chrysostomos in the presence of Kostas Bakoyannis, Sterea Ellada Regional Governor.

      The aim of the Museum is the preservation and exhibition of sacred heirlooms and folk artifacts brought by the refugees from Prokopi Cappadocia after the Asia Minor Catastrophe in Neo Prokopi, Evia.
